Josie
The Best Dog
On March 26, 2009 I was at school having a good day. It
seemed like a regular day, I had gymnastics and my mom would pick me up
from school. The bell rang and instead of my mom waiting to pick my
brothers and I up, my grandma and grandpa were waiting for us. When I got
home it was very different from any other day because, I had noticed that
my dog Josie didn't greet my brothers and I at the door and she wasn't
under my parents feet. Then my parents told me the bad news, I burst into
tears. I was such a wreck the next day at school. I didn't even want to
go. So my dad drove my brothers and I to school that day.
Josie had to be put to sleep because of lymphoid cancer. The
morning before I asked my mom why she was slipping on the hardwood
floor. I didn't realize that the lymphoid cancer had sucked out all of the
muscles and energy out of her. She couldn't even go up the stairs fast or
even get up on my parents bed she was so tired and sick. But to make her
comfortable and give her a comfortable place to lay down and sleep, my
dad would lift her onto my parents bed. She tried so hard to make us happy
and play Frisbee but she just couldn't. We were like best friends, I was
with her from the very day we got her to the very day we lost her. It was
very hard for me to let her go. I would even go in her create with her when
I was little and lock the create when my mom would vacuum, because we
were both afraid of the vacuum. She was 10 years old when she was put to
sleep. We didn't even teach her the boundaries in our newest house. She
was so smart, she already knew them.

2. I wish that I could of said goodbye to her. I never really knew
how much I loved her and appreciated her until she was gone. There are
so many good times that I had with her. Now I have a new puppy named
Shadow. He is the same breed as Josie but is and Australian Shepperd
Blue Merle instead of an Australian Shepperd Black Tri. He will never be
like Josie, but I hope we can train him to be at least half as good as she
was.
